Baby Canada, Mallards, and other ducks arrive all summer long.  They have a special house with their own pool.  Our volunteers feed them a special diet twice a day and we clean their pool and enclosure every morning.  We care for them until they are able to survive on their own in the wild.  Your contribution will directly help save these sweet young lives.  Thank you.

Did you know....opossums eat ticks and are almost immune to rabies?  This makes them very beneficial to the environment for other animals and people!  

Oh, the baby opossums!  They are absolutely adorable, once you get to know them, {wink wink}, and we know because we get so many every spring.  They are surprisingly clean and not aggressive.  They are friendly with each other and are largely nocturnal.  

 The opossums usually arrive after their mother has been killed by a car.  As North America's only native marsupial, they live in their mother's pouch until they are ready to live on their own.  When mamma is no longer able to take care of her children, our volunteers step in to do the feeding, cleaning, and caring for these mischievous kids until they can survive on their own.  The picture in the grass is a released opossum waiving good-bye and thanking us for her chance to live on her own.  Their food, housing, and care is costly.  Your contribution will directly help save these sweet young lives.  Thank you.

Baby birds arrive helpless and hungry.  Sometimes their mother has been killed, sometimes a little bird has fallen out of the nest.  In all cases, these little ones must be fed a special formula every 15 minutes.  That is not a mistake - someone has to be able to feed the infant birds every 15 minutes.  This requires making the special formula, and feeding them with very small syringes. These baby birds are housed in heated incubators and given fresh, soft, bedding every day.  As the birds grow older, they will be fed every half hour, then every hour.  It is a long processing helping these little ones reach adulthood so that they can survive on their own.
